Sitting along the Saint John River Valley and extending to the meeting point of the borders between Maine, New Brunswick and Quebec, Haut-Madawaska is a community of roughly 4000 residents and includes four districts: Saint-Hilaire, Baker-Brook, Clair and Saint-François. Haut-Madawaska is enriched by an entrepreneurial culture and economy based mainly on lumber production and aviculture.
On the academic side, there are two elementary schools on the territory: the École Communautaire Ernest-Lang in the Saint-François District, and the Centre d’apprentissage du Haut-Madawaska in the Clair District. The CAHM stands out internationally and was recently awarded the first Quasar recognition by the organization Idée éducation entrepreneuriale.
The Community of Haut-Madawaska profits from a rich and lively history because of the many cultural, historical and patrimonial sites we can find on its territory. Among other things, you will find the Complexe Maxime-Albert in Saint-Hilaire, the Site historique de Clair in Clair, the Forge Jos B. Michaud, the Ledges… Place des Pionniers, the Mgr-Plourde Public Library and the Salle du 150e in Saint-François, the Museum Bob Connors in Connors and let’s not forget the John Baker site in Baker-Brook, meaningful location of the Community of Haut-Madawaska.
