Update # 1 - Renovation Project of the Centre J. Docithe-Nadeau

Feb 28, 2026

Funding

The Municipality wishes to inform the public of the progress made on the arena renovation project.

The project has been estimated at $5 million, and funding equivalent to this amount has been obtained from the three levels of government: the federal government ($3 million), the provincial government ($1.4 million), and a provincial-municipal program ($600,000). None of this funding comes from direct property taxes paid by citizens.

This funding is strictly intended for the renovation of existing infrastructure and cannot be used for purposes other than those associated with eligible costs, including:

  • the refrigeration system;
  • accessibility, including washrooms;
  • building energy efficiency.

Current status of the project

The Municipality is currently in the process of soliciting bids in order to obtain a professional recommendation regarding the repair of the refrigeration system. This first step represents the most urgent and costly need.

It will allow us to evaluate options for replacing the system, identify the associated costs, and determine the portion of the remaining funding that can be allocated to other issues related to the operation of the arena, in accordance with eligible expenses.

The engineering firm will be selected in the coming days. Discussions will then take place to establish a realistic deadline for completing the work, with the aim of minimizing service interruptions.

Project objectives

  • Ensure rigorous and responsible management of funding.
  • Minimize interruptions or delays affecting seasonal activities.
  • Prioritize interventions that ensure the arena's sustainability.

The work will be closely monitored to ensure conscientious and optimal completion.

The public will be kept informed of the project's progress. If you have any questions, please contact the municipal administration or the Chief Administrative Officer.
