Permanent closure of sports infrastructures

Mr. Jean-Pierre Ouellet, Mayor of the Community of Haut-Madawaska shared a message regarding the closing of the sports infrastructures of the Community:

« Take note that all sports infrastructures will be closed definitively for the winter because of the restrictions imposed by the different levels of the government.

The Community of Haut-Madawaska will cease its operations at the Centre J. Docithe-Nadeau - Saint-François District, the ''Complexe multifonctionnel'' - Clair District, and the outdoor ice rink - Baker-Brook District. As for the outdoor ice rink - Saint-Hilaire District, a decision was made by the Community for it to remain closed due to a water supply issue.

We won't be going back to the Yellow phase for some time and we're already on the second week of February. Considering the costs associated with keeping these facilities open without users, the Community made the decision to close these facilities for the winter season. The savings will probably allow us to invest additional amounts in summer activities so that our residents have a greater range of activities available.
