Centre J. Docithe-Nadeau Renovation Project – Progress Update

Haut-Madawaska, August 13, 2025 – The Town of Haut-Madawaska wishes to inform residents and partners on the progress of the Centre J. Docithe-Nadeau renovation project, a major undertaking for the community.

The project, valued at over $5 million, has already secured a confirmed contribution of up to $3 million from the federal government through the Green and Inclusive Community Buildings Program. This amount is specifically allocated for replacing the refrigeration system and for work aimed at improving the Centre’s accessibility.

An additional funding request to the Regional Development Corporation (RDC) and the Government of New Brunswick has therefore become necessary to complete a more ambitious project. In order to submit this request and potentially obtain additional funding, the provincial representative required, among other things, a complete facility condition assessment of the Centre.

To that end, the Municipality launched a call for tenders and awarded the contract to Englobe Corp to provide the required support. This work will be carried out during the fall, after which the Town will be able to submit the necessary requests to the RDC, with the hope of obtaining further funding for the project.

Given these additional steps, no renovation work will be able to start in 2025. This year will be devoted to preparing the plans and specifications, with construction expected to begin in 2026, subject to securing the necessary funding and the absence of further delays.

This project represents a significant investment in our community. Although delays have been unavoidable, we remain fully committed to seeing it through, in order to provide our residents with modern, safe, and sustainable facilities.
